3 • The Basic Needs Benefit Policy will pay basic needs benefits in the event of the death, dread disease or permanent disability of you as Member and Policyholder (“ Basic Needs Benefits ”). The Basic Needs Benefits will be paid in the form of monthly grocery vouchers which can be redeemed at selected retailers. • The Basic Needs Benefit Policy is therefore aimed at putting food on the table, and paying for certain other basic needs, if you die, become disabled or suffer a dread disease, subject to the terms and conditions listed below. • The Trust is confident that this is a positive and important addition to the already beneficial benefits of your Membership. • This means, with effect from 1 April 2023 , that your Pukwana ya Kganya Contract will comprise – - a Funeral Policy; - a Dread Disease and Personal Accident Policy; and - a Basic Needs Benefit Policy. • Your Membership Contributions will not increase on 1 April 2023, and the Trust will pay the premiums due in terms of the Basic Needs Benefit Policy from the Trust’s funds, being an amount of R6.90 per Policyholder per month. Your Membership Contributions will be reviewed during February 2024 and you will receive notification of any changes to your Membership Contribution with effect from 1 April 2024, as provided for in your Membership Terms and Conditions Booklet. • As with all benefits of Membership, please note that Membership to the Trust entitles you to the full package of Basic Benefits which cannot be separated, or selectively paid for. This means that the benefits of your Membership automatically includes all Basic Benefits (which includes the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract, comprising a Funeral Policy, a Dread Disease and Personal Accident Policy and a Basic Needs Benefit Policy against payment of your Membership Contributions. • The terms and conditions of the Basic Needs Benefit Policy, forming part of the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract with effect from 1 April 2023, are set out below.
