Definitions 1.1. In these Basic Benefits Regulations, unless the context indicates a contrary intention, the following words and expressions bear the meanings assigned to them and cognate expressions bear corresponding meanings: 1.1.1. “Basic Ancillary Benefits” means all ancillary benefits provided and/or procured by the Trust for the Members, who qualify for the Basic Ancillary Benefits, as set out in regulation 6; 1.1.2. “Basic Benefits” means the membership package available to Members who qualify for the Basic Benefits as set out in regulation 6; 1.1.3. “Basic Benefits Regulations” means these Basic Benefits Regulations issued by the Trust from time to time in accordance with the provisions of the Trust Deed and the Master Regulations in respect of the Basic Benefits, including all annexures and schedules thereto, as amended from time to time as provided for in the Trust Deed, read with the Master Regulations; 1.1.4. “Commencement Date” means the commencement date of these Basic Benefits Regulations, being 1 January 2023; 1.1.5. “Dread Disease and Personal Accident Policy” means the Dread Disease and Personal Accident Policy concluded between a Member (in his/her capacity as policyholder (as this term is defined in the Insurance Act)) and an Insurer, in respect of dread disease benefits and personal accident benefits as set out therein. The Dread Disease and Personal Accident Policy forms part of the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract, and is concluded pursuant to a Member’s Membership to the Trust, as provided for in the Master Regulations and these Basic Benefits Regulations; 1.1.6. “Funeral Policy” means the Funeral Policy concluded between a Member (in his/her capacity as policyholder (as this term is defined in the Insurance Act)) and an Insurer in respect of funeral (burial) benefits, as set out therein. The Funeral Policy forms part of the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract, and is concluded pursuant to a Member’s Membership to the Trust, as provided for in the Master Regulations and these Basic Benefits Regulations; 1.1.7. “Funerary Management Benefits” means the Basic Ancillary Benefit as set out in regulation 6.3.4; 1.1.8. “Insured Event” means an insured event as specified in the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract; 1.1.9. “Leeto la Moria (Discounted Transport) Benefits” means the Basic Ancillary Benefit as set out in regulation 6.3.3; 1.1.10. “Master Regulations” means the Master Regulations issued by the Trust in accordance with the provisions of the Trust Deed, and amended from time to time in accordance with the Trust Deed, read with the Master Regulations; 1.1.11. “Member” means, for purposes of these Basic Benefits Regulations, a Member as defined in the Master Regulations but excludes a Church Official who is a Member; 1.1.12. “Member in Good Standing” means a Member who satisfies the requirements for a Member in Good Standing in order to qualify for the Basic Ancillary Benefits as set out in regulation 6;
