What is the Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya Contract? • The Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract is an insurance policy that is underwritten by Sanlam Developing Markets Limited. • If you are a church official of the ZCC and you are a member beneficiary of the Kganya Benefits Fund Trust, you will receive the Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract to provide for the insured benefits previously procured by the Kganya Benefits Fund Trust. • The Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract consists of two insurance policies which are offered as part of your membership to the Kganya Benefits Fund Trust: o a Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya Funeral Policy for funeral benefits; and o a Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya Dread Disease and Personal Accident Policy for dread disease and personal accident benefits. • The benefits received in terms of the Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract are the same as the insured benefits you currently receive via the Kganya Benefits Fund Trust. Who is Sanlam? • Sanlam Developing Markets Limited is a life insurer licenced in terms of the Insurance Act, 18 of 2017, an authorised financial services provider with FSP number 11230 and is the insurer that will provide member beneficiaries with the insurance benefits in terms of the Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract and the Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract. How will Sanlam issue the insurance policies to me as a member beneficiary? • Sanlam made an offer to all member beneficiaries to enter into the Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract and the Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract. • No action is required from you as a member beneficiary to accept the Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract or the Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract, but you must continue to pay your membership contributions . • If you continue to pay your membership contributions, and do not object to the Court Application in terms of which the changes to membership will be approved, it will be deemed that you have accepted the offer for insurance in the Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract or the Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract. • Your Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract or the Thari ya Baruti Pukwana ya Kganya insurance contract will come into force on 1 January 2023, if the High Court approves the changes to your membership on 3 August 2022. What must you do for the changes to your membership to become effective? • Nothing. • Because of the changes to your membership, the trustees of the Kganya Benefits Fund Trust will approach the High Court of South Africa to approve the changes. Every effort has been taken to ensure that your benefits remain the same and your interests as a member beneficiary are protected and will not be negatively affected as a result of the required changes.
