Kganya Benefits Fund Trust

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR MEMBERS OF THE KGANYA BENEFITS FUND TRUST (the Trust) FROM HIS GRACE THE RIGHT REVEREND BISHOP DR B E LEKGANYANE

Over the last 22 years, the Trust has granted access to essential benefits for ZCC members who pay their monthly membership contributions. These benefits include cost-effective burial, dread disease and personal accident cover as well as other non-insured benefits such as Leeto la Moria benefits, roadside assistance benefits and funerary management benefits.

With my fellow trustees, I have always ensured that the Trust’s operations are fully compliant with the relevant legislation. To remain compliant, the Trust has no choice but to effect certain changes due to a change in the insurance laws in South Africa which impacts the way the Trust operates. This means that amendments to the Trust Deed are required which affects the above benefits. In terms of the Trust Property Control act 57 of 1988, these amendments must be approved by the High Court of South Africa (Gauteng Division, Pretoria). This matter will be heard on 3 August 2022 when the Court will carefully consider the changes and make sure that the interests of all the Trust’s member beneficiaries remain protected.

To enable all member beneficiaries to become fully aware of the implications of the above changes and to enable them to object to such changes, in need, the following is provided herein (click on any one of the numbered paragraphs below to access the requisite document):

1. Notifications in English and nine of the official languages which will be distributed to member beneficiaries by the Churches from the date hereof until 31 December 2022;

2. Posters in English and nine of the official languages. The English versions will be displayed at the various Churches and the Kganya Service Centres until 20 July 2022;

3. The various Court papers which have been lodged with the High Court of South Africa (Gauteng Division, Pretoria). A hard copy of these Court Papers will be made available for inspection at any one of the Kganya Service Centres;

4. Frequently Asked Questions in English and nine of the official languages;

5. Contact details for more information; and

6. A facility whereby member beneficiaries can email their questions to Kganya.

I support the above changes which will be fully compliant with the changed insurance laws and I give all member beneficiaries the assurance that these changes will not prejudice their rights or the manner in which they are able to access the benefits.

His Grace the Right Reverend Bishop Dr B E Lekganyane
